Smudging can help but it requires more than just burning sage, cedar, and/or sweet grass. Sometimes it can be as simple as talking to her so lets work with that to start.

I believe that ONE of the reasons people hang around after their physical death is "Earthly Attractions". People enjoy different things in physical life that can not be physically felt or experienced on their own because they no longer have a physical body. There must be something in your home that she finds attractive and bothering you and your family may not be what she is trying to do. If she is not causing any problems besides being seen let her know that seeing her is causing people to be scared and you wish that she wouldn't do that any more. Ghosts and/or Spirits are around us all the time without us being aware of them. Out of sight, out of mind, so to speak. On the other hand she might just want to be acknowledged and talking to her may help. She still has free will so at this point we can only guess why she chose to be there. Most people on Earth are good and their personality doesn't change after their physical death.

Children are very open and can flood a room with their emotions. If there is a lot of arguing being done in a home (if she was a negative person in life) she might be attracted to those negative emotions. Those projected emotions/energies can be very attractive to them because they are not able to experience them on their own. The more information you are willing to share with me the more we can narrow down which direction to go.
