Now, I'm married and I have a 4-year-old daughter. And now I'm seeing my daughter having the same experiences I had as a child. One night a couple months back, when we were coming home from visiting some family, she asked me if she would get to see Macy again when we got home. Macy is my sister-in-law's black lab, who died last fall. I explained to my daughter that Macy lives with Jesus now, and that she wouldn't get to see Macy anymore. My daughter then told me that Macy lived in her closet, and she played with her every day. She also said that Macy slept on the foot of her bed to keep the "bad man" out of her room. When I asked her about the bad man, she got very quiet and wouldn't say anything more except that he "looks scary, Mommy". This worries me, because I know as a child how much sometimes I would be so scared because I saw things other people couldn't. But at the same time, I'm also a little fascinated with the fact that my daughter has the same gift I've tried so hard to ignore.
So my question is (after writing that novel! Sorry! LOL) do you think that being sensitive is something that is passed on through genetics?? No one else in my family before me has ever mentioned having these experiences, but now my daughter is, so it's making me wonder. I'd love to hear some opinions on this, please!
